Final Project: Text Animation

For my final project I decided to do text animation that incorporates a lot of motion tweens, gradients, colors, and transitions. The overall theme of this animation is centered around writing conventions such as grammar and guidelines for academic writing. I work as a writing tutor here at SOU and I drew inspiration from my job. Overall, it is a short, semi-educational animation.

Final Projects (Preview)

Youtube link

For my final project I would like to create a text animation of the various writing formats. This includes MLA, APA, Chicago, AP, etc. I work for TRiO here on campus and I thought this would be a neat little text animation that included what I work with in the tutoring center. I am going to make these letters SOU colors which will include reds, blacks, and grays. I am going to have these letters slide in from various angles and may even add some slight rotations to the letters. I'm also going to have some of these letters fade in and out.

Project 4: Midterm Mayhem

This is a short animation of a cat getting annoyed for some unknown reason. A longer version of this animation would include a mouse or a rat running around the cat. The cat would then step on it, cry, but in the end the mouse or rat would be okay.

Project 3: Character Animation

I wanted to try an animated walking sequence and a different animated sequence that had one still element throughout the whole animation. Neither tell a story but I wanted to practice a walking sequence (in this case I chose a cat because well, I like cats) and just animating a character with one still element.

Project 2: Short Abstraction

I found myself trying to create something too elaborate so I instead went with a very basic idea. I created a very simple, abstract looking city scape with cars and a boat going by.

Project 1: 100 Frame Animation

Project 1 Youtube link

This particular animation doesn't have a story to it but I wanted to make sure that there were 100 frames of something going on. In this case, it starts out with a bunch of leaves (perhaps blowing in the wind) and then it transitions into a cloud, it rains, a monster plant grows and eats the cloud and the sun comes out and destroys the evil plant.
